Thiru Family Trust Momentum Maker Grant

Addressing health disparities to protect maternal mental health in Arizona

The Thiru Family Trust Momentum Maker Grant (Momentum Maker) was created to inspire new paths to mental health and well-being in Arizona. Addressing the health disparities that influence maternal mental health is our focus for 2025. Grant funding will support solutions that protect maternal mental health and reduce the number of pregnancy-related deaths attributed to mental health conditions.

2025 Momentum Maker Grant

For 2025, the Momentum Maker Grant is focused on improving maternal mental health. According to the latest report from the Arizona Department of Health Services, about 70 mothers die within a year of their pregnancy. Ninety percent of those deaths are preventable, and 60% of them are Hispanic, Black, or Native American mothers. Mental health conditions were the most common underlying cause of pregnancy-related deaths.

Funding changemaking ideas. Uplifting mental health.

The Thiru Family Trust Momentum Maker Grant (Momentum Maker) was established in 2023 thanks to a generous gift from the Thiru Family Trust. Momentum Maker embodies our shared passion for inspiring new paths to mental health and well-being in Arizona.

Each year, we identify a specific area of mental health-related need and award a single Momentum Maker grant package. In 2025, the grant package is valued at $100,000. Momentum Maker funding is designed to help grantees build capacity, innovate, test proof of concept, or expand early-stage projects.

Like so many people, I have had experiences that impacted my mental and physical health. Providing resources to improve mental health in our communities is an honor for our family, and a meaningful way to give back.
